Runaljod

The Sound of Endings and New Beginnings
With Runaljod – Ragnarok, we reached the final chapter of our Runaljod trilogy, a journey that began with Gap Var Ginnunga and continued with Yggdrasil. Where Yggdrasil symbolized life and wisdom, Ragnarok represents the inevitable end—destruction and chaos—but also the promise of renewal.
In Norse mythology, Ragnarok is the great battle that leads to the fall of gods, the destruction of the world, and ultimately, its rebirth. This cycle of endings and new beginnings was a central theme in our creative process. We sought to express not only the ferocity of battle and natural catastrophes but also the quiet moments of reflection and the hope that follows devastation.
Musically, Runaljod – Ragnarok builds upon the foundation of the previous albums, incorporating traditional Nordic instruments, layered vocals, and the raw power of natural soundscapes. The rhythms and melodies reflect the tension between destruction and creation, inviting listeners to experience the journey through sound.
This album also signifies the completion of a vision we embarked on many years ago—to bring the runes to life through music, offering an immersive experience that honors the wisdom of the past while resonating in the present. It is a closing chapter, but not an ending. Just as the world in Norse mythology is reborn after Ragnarok, so too does our musical path continue beyond this trilogy.
We are deeply grateful for everyone who has walked this path with us, embracing the journey through Runaljod – Gap Var Ginnunga, Yggdrasil, and now Ragnarok. The music lives on, and the echoes of the runes will always be heard.
